Justin Rushmore is a UK DJ, label boss and one half of the breakbeat duo Soul of Man, formed with artist and producer Jem (Jem Stone Panufnik) after the pair met working for a rave-era label (Sunrise Records / Having It in Ibiza) and hit it off over shared music-and-art instincts. A self-taught teenage disco promoter from Surrey, he cut his teeth at seminal venues like Rage at Heaven and Stearns before diving into London's Soho record shops.
Together with Jem and silent partner Abel, Rushmore ran Finger Lickin' Records, the vibrant, tongue-in-cheek imprint that became a home for new-school breaks acts including Plump DJs and Lee Coombs. He handled the A&R and business side, ran a record shop (Vinyl Addiction) and hosted wild nights at the Dog Star, pushing acts toward bodies of work like the Plumps' A Plump Night Out.
Now based in Brighton, Rushmore runs Bug Club, a fleet of VW camper-van DJ booths for events and brand activations, while still playing occasional Soul of Man sets ahead of Finger Lickin's 30th anniversary.
