Myagi (Andrew Mavor) grew up in Peterborough, Ontario, raised on the eclectic record boxes that arrived for his father's newspaper review column. A grunge-era DIY punk scene gave way to obsession with Nine Inch Nails and studio technology, and seeing Fatboy Slim play the Warehouse in Toronto in 1999 crystallized his direction into big beat and breaks.
His first release, "Wishy Well," topped a Canadian record pool, and "I Got Beat Up by 303" — picked up by Freddy Fresh on Howlin' Records — earned spins on John Peel's BBC Radio 1 show. From 2004 to 2008 he toured constantly across Asia, Australia, Europe and North America, remixing Crystal Method and Orbital's Phil Hartnoll, and releasing his debut album Three Years of Sunrise (2008).
After a pivotal 2010 Burning Man trip, Mavor stepped back from touring, co-owned an acclaimed Victoria, BC restaurant, and now teaches culinary arts. His return album, The World of Tomorrow, revives his hands-on analog approach.
