Sporty-O is an Atlanta-born MC, producer, label owner, and DJ known in electronic music as the "International Wingman." Raised on his late father's vinyl and an early Eazy-E tape, he learned guitar as a kid and moved into production on an MPC 2000, then opened one of Atlanta's ten independent SoundScan record stores, running it for seven years while learning the business side of music.
A break took him to Los Angeles for seven years, where he signed with MySpace Records (via Interscope), wrote and voiced songs for a Jamie Kennedy MTV reality show, and recorded in a Jimi Hendrix-era studio alongside DJ Lethal. There he cut his first dance records with UK breaks act AquaSky, and after Keith Mackenzie flew him to a rave, committed fully to dance music.
His breakbeat hits "Guest List" and "Apple Bottom" made him a rare rapper with a full club catalog. He now runs Tequila Rageface Gang (a joint venture with Create Music) and has a forthcoming EP, Symphonic Resistance, evolving into a producer and DJ after debut sets at Electric Forest.
