Wes Smith is a breaks producer and DJ whose musical roots trace back to the pre-rave South Florida scene of the late 1980s and early 1990s. Growing up in an engineering family, he came up on the Miami bass and electro sound of Two Live Crew, DJ Magic Mike, and mixtape crews like Jam Pony and DJ Laz, well before Florida breaks became an EDM-era phenomenon. A pivotal influence was Orlando's ICY, whose "Energy Tracks" white label reshaped how Smith heard edits and breaks.
After earning a masters in construction engineering from the University of Florida, Smith moved to Washington, DC, working at Music Now Records and landing opening slots at the legendary Buzz DC club run by Scott Henry and Leven de Gaint. He launched Juice Recordings in DC — its first release arriving in 1997 — originally alongside partners Leon and Debbie, and carried the label on after they stepped away.
Smith later lived in New York and toured India via a Red Bull initiative, a trip that led him to embrace Ableton Live. He has placed over 50 songs in video games and licensing, including the hit indie title Tabletop Racing World Tour.
